About

j. s. abramowitz - composer

Born in St Louis in 1945, Abramowitz grew up playing several instruments. He writes orchestral and chamber music as well as popular songs.

Although first a member of ASCAP in 1973, he only began making serious efforts at classical composition in 2003, studying privately from mentors at Lamont School of Music in Denver. These include Brandon Vaccaro and Hill Baker.

With its emphasis on lyrical playful melodies, inventive style, and thematic material, his orchestral and ensemble music has tended to appeal to younger audiences.
